Princess Charlotte Bay Mothership Charter

It is the breathtaking combination of reef systems, river systems and extensive mangrove estuaries that make fishing in Princess Charlotte Bay a truly unique experience. This fishing hotspot plays host to myriad fish species from Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Bream and Salmon to Tarpon, Cod, Javelin Fish and Trevally. Plus just off the coast is the extensive northern part of the Great Barrier Reef system that offers absolutely incredible fishing.

Situated just an hour's flight from Cairns, this fishing hotspot is the perfect location for anglers desiring the action packed fishing offered by a far off wildness, without the hassle of a time consuming trip to reach your destination.

The flight from Cairns is where the trip really begins, with an incredible visual experience as you fly over iconic locations such as Port Douglas, the Daintree world heritage rainforest, the famous Bloomfield River, Lakefield National Park and on to Musgrave Telegraph Station. Here you'll be met at the airstrip by one of the Boomerang Sportfishing crew and transported by 4WD to the Annie River, where you will join the rest of the crew on the MV Boomerang.

The MV Boomerang is a 65ft steel mothership with all the creature comforts necessary for a homely liveaboard stay. And with a range of 1500 miles, there is no problem with moving around looking for the fish. There are also three polycraft open boats that are fantastic for river and reef work. These are fully guided by an experienced crew that know these waters like the back of their hands.

When it comes to the fishing, there really is something for everyone. Options range from popper fishing over shallow reefs for Coral Trout, through to deep water jigging action for Red Emperor and other creatures of the deep. One of the thrills in fishing these crystal clear waters is trying to identify your catch before it reaches the surface - although as all of the fishing is conducted either right in amongst the reef or close in on a reef system, it can be a challenge to get the fish off the reef before they bust you off!

There's also plenty of opportunity to target the pelagic super stars, such as Spanish Mackerel and Yellowfin Tuna. Throw in some XO Trevally for good measure and you'll have line pealing off your reel like a runaway freight train!

All your meals are fully catered, so each night you and your fellow fisho's can just relax and knock off a few ice cold beers as you dine on Mud Crabs and fresh fish. There are even a few locations on the charter where you can eat fresh oysters right off the rocks! But don't worry if your passion is catching fish, rather than eating it. All tastes will be catered for on this fishing charter.

The Princess Charlotte Bay Mothership Charter is a five day minimum trip and runs from March through to November. The charter can be booked on a per person basis, or as a private charter for up to eight people.
