The mangrove and rainforest lined estuaries of northern Australia are the breeding grounds for many marine creatures. Subsequently there are scores of Barramundi, Mangrove Jack, Queenfish, Permit and many other species all hunting for food. This means your well directed lure or fly is going to be in the firing line for one of the many tropical sports fish.

With over 100 rivers, dozens of estuaries and countless creeks flowing into the different oceans and seas of coastal northern Australia, it makes the area the best fishing destination on earth. It does not matter where you are travelling to in northern Australia, FishingEarth will have a world class fishing lodge or charter for your ultimate fishing adventure.

If you are travelling to northern Queensland, there are many wonderful locations to be fished. These locations are best fished from one our fantastic live aboard fishing charters in both the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Coral Sea (Great Barrier Reef). Not only is the fishing out of this world in northern Queensland it’s also a beautiful place to visit as a non fishing tourist.

Then there is the Northern Territory one of the most written about and filmed fishing locations on earth. The estuaries and rivers here in the Northern Territory offer hot fishing locations from east to west, Arnhemland across to the Western Australia boarder. FishingEarth has the best lodges and charters for you to experience the best possible fishing adventure. The estuaries of the Northern Territory each year are enriched by what is called ‘run off’ from the wet season and triggers something in the Barramundi to make them feed like crazy.

The sparse population of the Western Australian coastline provides an environment which often generates the feeling that you are one of few people to have enjoyed the unspoiled beauty. The Kimberly region has long enticed fisherman as it hosts a number of rich and diverse estuaries that provide unique and exciting fishing opportunities. Here you will find waterways that run thick with Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and Threadthin Salmon. Latest Fishing Reports for: Estuary & Coastal Fishing

Port Musgrave - Oct 07

The summer daylight high tides make for some different fishing options and challenges and the Barramuni season is closed which doesn’t matter, we don't kill anyway. For something different we steamed a bit further south this week to the massive Port Musgrave estuary and anchored off the beach at 'The Wreck'. view

Cape York West Coast - Sept 07

The crew of the Tropic Paradise have a two week break. So I thought I’d write a trip report about what we got up to. As luck would have it, my girlfriend Sonjha works for a great bloke who has given us the use of his 15 meter vessel “ConQuest”. A beautifully appointed white boat with all the luxuries you can imagine. view

Weipa - April 07

Barramundi were on the bite as the weather began to clear, from another northern wet season. Eating to replenished spent energy used while in the breeding mode. Tuna moved in the Bay, hunting down the vast bait schools that feed on the nutrients that are flushed out the local river systems this time of the year. view

Daintree River - Nov 07

A few trips offshore in the last week of September were thoroughly exciting. I had few opportunities for photos on some trips as spanish mackeral, hungry trout, of all different colouring, nannygai, trevally, and GT’s kept me flat out. All fish kept definitely had roe in them. view

Daintree River - Oct 07

In September, when it calmed right off, it coincided with neap tides. Therefore the water visibility increased greatly, causing the fish to become fussy. Offshore I saw a quite of lot of spanish mackeral follow, then veer away from the bait and boat when close. I then had the only choice of changing fishing style, targeting the deeper reef species, which paid off more often than not. view
